Far Right, Far Left, and Extremists in General

I simply don't understand these people. As I was reading some of Nate's thoughts about some of the blog postings he had reviewed it occured to me I needed to make another post for the day. Let me do a little copy and pasting so that I may explain myself:

Mitt Romney is set to announce his
candidacy
formally on Tuesday the 12th:
Boston, MA - On Tuesday, February
13, Governor Mitt Romney will travel to Michigan, the state where he was born,
to declare his intention to seek the Presidency of the United States of America.
Governor Romney’s announcement will be streamed live on Mitt Romney.com at 9:00
a.m. EST.

Some local blog roll reaction to Romney’s announcement:
The
Right’s Field
:
Mitt Romney launched a fire-storm today by announcing his
decision to announce his presidential candidacy at the Henry Ford Museum in
Detroit. Ford was a legendary anti-Semite and Romney’s decision has already
sparked condemnation by the National Jewish Democratic Council. Romney’s
decision is in the tradition of Ronald Reagan’s announcement of his candidacy in
Philadelphia, Mississippi, where three civil rights activists were murdered.
Reagan’s announcement was seen as a signal flair to the white, conservative base
in the South; who is Romney trying to reach by announcing at a museum honoring
one of America’s most notable anti-Semites?

Nate's Response : Sure,
that’s it. Ronald Reagan was racist and Mitt Romney is an antisemitic. Maybe
Romney is trying to signal to Democrats who don’t support Israel’s right to
exist. Maybe Reagan was signaling to
Robert “KKK”
Byrd
, Democratic senator from West Virginia and former Ku Klux Klan
member
.

Political Buzz:
Romney
‘08 will officially launch tomorrow in Michigan - Romney’s native state. But
does anyone really care? Well, besides the Jewish group that is blasting Mitt
over his campaign launch location.

Nate's Response: OK,
c’mon. Seriously here people, does anyone believe that Mitt Romney chose the
Henry Ford Museum to show his support for antisemitism? Really?
Anyone?

Ok then, this is where I take back over. I am in complete agreement with Nate on these comments. I mean what in the wide world of sports are these people thinking making these sort of judgements? Granted you are entitled to your opinion, but c'mon where is the logic and reason, the sanity? I don't profess to know much of Mitt Romney but I'm educated enough to know symbolism when I see it. The reason Romney chose to make his speech in Detroit at the Henry Ford Museum because Henry Ford symbolizes in minds of most normal people, an honored American. Romney is attempting to return to the older grass roots of America in making his announcement here. It would be like going to Minnesota, the birthplace of Charles Shultz to give a speech on Charlie Brown....unless you extremists think there would be some Nazi motive behind it because Shultz has German ancestry.

Ronald Reagan racist? That's a pretty far stretch.I can't even begin to explain this one....it's just too ridiculous. I am from Mississippi, I live not 2 hours from Philadelphia, MS. Let me explain something to you extremists about Mississippi. We are not a racist state. We do not have severe racial issues here as there were in the days of Chaney Goodman and Shwerner, the 3 who died in Philadelphia. As you should be figuring out about now, I do know my history and I certainly do know the history and current nature of my home state. We have enough problems of our own trying to convince the rest of the world we don't have anything to do with the racist idiots that plague our world, like the KKK, Nazis and such. These people are inadvertently connected to us because of our state's past. But I have news for you. It's in the PAST. Connect those people with themselves as they have their own individual reasons for why they have their beliefs and I promise you it has nothing to do with Reagan announcing his candidacy in Philadelphia, MS, or Mitt Romney announcing his candidacy in Detroit.
